rock climbing, ice climbing, skiing, snowshoeing, skating, tubing, zip line, dog sledding, horseback riding, sleigh rides, snowmobile, train rides, shopping, and plenty of places to explore.
Many of the things you can do in North Conway are very inexpensive or free. Parking in the village is always free, parking at the Clarendon Motel is also free. We have walking and biking trails right from our front door all free of charge. In the winter we have cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails right from our property for a very low fee. There are many beautiful back roads you can go jogging on or just take a nice ride on. The Saco river and also Echo Lake are just 2 miles down the street, in the river you can park for free and swim or go tubing all day, bring your fishing rod and try your hand at catching a fish. Echo Lake is a state park so there is a small fee to get into the park, they have changing rooms, bathrooms and a snack bar, it is a great place to have a picnic with grills and tables a plenty. You will find a nice sandy beach that the kids can play on and go swimming in the lake right under Cathedral Ledge, very tranquil and peaceful place to be, if you walk up to the edge of the water and yell ‘Hello’ you will hear the echo of you voice, hence Echo Lake. You will find an abundance of hiking trails all around the Clarendon Motel. Diana’s bath is about 3 miles from our motel, it is one of the most popular, easy and beautiful hiking trails in North Conway. Diana’s Bath is a state park so there is a small parking fee but after you hike Diana’s Bath you can use that ticket at any of the state park hiking trails in NH all that day. Hurricane Mt road is just ½ mile from the motel and if you follow the road to the top of the mountain you will find another popular hiking trail called the Black Mountain Trail, again parking is free and you can hike all day.
We have views of Cathedral Ledge from the Clarendon Motel it will take you less than 3 miles to get to Cathedral Ledge from our front door. You can drive up the mountain free of charge park your car free of charge and walk out to the ledge to get a spectacular view of the Valley. Cathedral Ledge also offers free rock climbing in the summer and fall and free ice climbing in the winter and spring. Don’t miss the views from the top of the Ledge. Then drive back to the Clarendon Motel and have a great nights stay after a fantastic day in the valley.
